ARUA CITY COUNCIL LAYS A TOTAL BUDGET OF 45.1 BILLION UGX FOR THE FY 2024/25

Arua City Council on the afternoon of March 22nd, 2024 laid a proposed budget estimate of Ugandan shillings 45,145,813,404 for the Financial Year 2024/25. The budget will be financed through various means, including 26,679,728,532 from wage grant,10,943,465,209 from non-wage recurrent grants,1,182,857,663 from development grant,339,762,000 from other government transfers and 6,000,000,000 from locally raised revenue.

According to  Musa Lumu, the city statistician, also in charge of preparing the Budget Framework Paper, the proposed budget will cater for several priority interventions such as road infrastructure development, land banking, city expansion plan implementation, rehabilitation of dilapidated school structures, construction  of school classroom blocks and VIP latrines for schools, procurement of a grader for road works, rehabilitation of health facilities, capacity enhancement of farmers, youth and women empowerment programs.

The budget has reduced by about 1,928,654,920 from the current financial year’s budget and the date for the budget discussion and approval will be communicated soon to fit within the budget Framework timeline.
